The Internet is a world of its own ... and like the real material heavily-polluted world we live on, there is so much to explore but no time to cover them all, especially when youre looking for quality websites but all that gets onto your browser are things that arent fit for public viewing. So to save your time and resources this column tells you where to go and whats good to see on the cyberworld of the Internet!

HAVE YOU EVER wondered how high your intelligence quotient (IQ) is but youre just too shy to take an IQ test? Or if you have ever wondered if you can make the cut to join MENSA which takes just the top 2% of the world population as its members? Well now you have a chance to test your IQ free of charge on the World Wide Web and the best part is its totally anonymous so no one can laugh at you if you fail miserably.

THE FIRST SITE which I tried was http://www.iqtest.com which offered quite an easy test. The test has 38 question which you must complete within 13 minutes. That averages to slightly over 20.5 seconds per question so you must do it speedily. The authors of the site and test claim that the test is accurate within 5 points of your real IQ. They also offer a complete personal intelligence profile for a price of US$9.95. It shows your General IQ as well as individual parts divided into Visual Apprehension, Spatial, Arithmetic, Logical, General Knowledge, Spelling, Rote Utilization, Intuition, Short Term Memory, Geometric, Vocabulary, Algebraic, and Computational Speed. These categories show varied scores based on your IQ test so that you will know which categories you are good in and which you are not.

THE SECOND SITE was http://www.queendom.com/iq.html which had a 60 question test that had a time limit of 1 hour. This test was also quite a standard one with questions on maths, language (English) and picture puzzles. The test offered here is slightly more difficult compared to the first. It offers an alternative of I dont know so that you dont simply choose a answer and get an inaccurate assessment of your IQ.

THE THIRD SITE http://cech.cesnet.cz/IQ/IQ-test-e.html had a 33 question test. The test here tests your IQ up to 174 points so you can get a more accurate result compared to other sites which offer results like Above 140 or Above 150. But if you get a result of above 174 here than you are probably in the top 0.5% of the world population. After a few easy letter and number questions the test progresses to trickier shapes and picture questions. Dont get overconfident and take it too easily though. Its easy to make mistakes like that on this test.

THE FOURTH SITE http://www.majon.com/iq.html will probably be the most difficult one for most people because it requires a very good command of English and maths compared to the other test. Although it has only 20 questions and no time limit to solve, it is doubtful that many can complete the test without referring to a dictionary. Only for those who have a superb command of the English language or for those who are keen to improve their English.

The final test that I tried online was called Rozies Test. It had 60 questions and a time limit of 50 minutes. It also had a list of the top 100 high scorers in the test. See if you can make the list. The address is http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/3055/cyiq-test.html. Heed the warning at the top of the page though, it gets progressively harder as the test continues.

If you do score well, you might consider joining the local chapter of MENSA at your area. If you dont do well, dont worry. The tests were designed for those who are native English speakers or have good command of the language so even if you score badly you might consider going for a real IQ test at the local MENSA chapter which offers tests in Bahasa Malaysia too. Furthermore, results of IQ tests can be improved with practice so the more you do the better you become.

Happy testing and good luck in your test!
