from the English Language Club

Varsity life can be pretty mundane at times. Endless lectures, assignments and tutorials. You know the saying about how varsity life is the best time in your life? Well, that depends. If you are satisfied with routine and monotony, so be it. But if you know that there is more to life than just books and grades, then you ought to know about the English Language Club!

The ELC has a diverse membership crossing the boundaries of colour, creed and faculty. Our aim is essentially to promote the usage of English as a medium of communication. To meet that objective, among some of the activities planned for the year are as follows:

  • Essay writing competitions
  • Newsletter
  • Writing workshop
  • Intra-varsity debates (a joint venture with Kelab De Pikir)
  • English Is Fun (weekly activity games, theatre experiments, etc)
  • Business English Workshop
  • Social Awareness Exhibition
  • UTM Challenge (for schools around JBdebates, elocution, etc)

P.S. There is an unspoken agenda in the ELC: its where strangers is merely a term for friends not yet known. Its a place for personal growth and forging of enduring relationships.

So what are you waiting for? Join us today!
